The Future of Flexible Working in the TV Industry
Welcome to Share My Telly Jobs first industry event which sets out to inspire the industry toward making fundamental changes in flexible working practices for freelancers.
This evening you’ll hear from a range of forward thinking employers and industry leaders who are promoting flexible working.
Through our panel debate we want to answer questions and remove any challenging perceptions surrounding flexible involving all aspects of flexible working practices.
Our main focus of the evening will be around job sharing as we believe this is the most workable solution to retaining talent across the TV industry. With a lack of part-time roles available to freelancers, the ability to share the abundance of full-time positions will help create hundreds of part-time opportunities.

Line Langebek, Screenwriter & Co-Founder RAISING FILMS @Lenalongstream
Line Langbek is one of the 5 co-founders of Raising Films. A campaign and community for parents and carers in the UK film and television industry. They share the stories of filmmakers in our community, and offer events, training and support to help make it possible for more people to successfully balance Family and Film.
Raising Films’ Making It Possible survey was the first-ever survey to look at the impact of parenting and caring labour for workers across the UK screen sector.
Emma Stewart MBE, Co-founder & Joint CEO – TIMEWISE @timewise_UK
Since co-founding Timewise, Emma has developed a high profile as a key opinion former in the flexible working sphere. She has contributed to numerous government task-forces, reports and initiatives, focusing on how to improve participation of people who need to work flexibly in the workplace, shape the labour markets of the future and raise family living
standards. Emma also worked as a Documentary Producer before prior to setting up Timewise
Timewise are innovators in the flexible sphere, supporting employers to design flexible working solutions that attract, retain and develop the best talent.
Jonathan Aspinwall, Deputy Editor, BBC Breakfast TV, Power Job-sharer
Jonathan has been sharing his role of Deputy Editor of BBC Breakfast with Kelly Crawford for almost 5 years. They work a pattern of 3 days per week each and are currently the only job share team on a flagship BBC programme, Jonathan and Kelly directly oversee live editions of BBC Breakfast, as well as deploying reporters around the UK and managing a team of producers.
Maria French, Head of Production at MAVERICK TV @Mavericktv
Maria is currently Head of Production at Maverick Television, having first joined Maverick as a Production Executive in 2010.
Having started out 20-something years ago as a Resource Scheduler for The London Studios, Maria’s first production position was as a Coordinator, and later as Production Manager, on the award winning SM:TV Live and CD:UK. Since then, she’s worked across Current Affairs, Factual, Children’s, Music and Features series for a wide variety of broadcasters and production companies as Production Manager and Production Executive, both in studio and on location.
She is responsible for programme production management and supervising all projects from development to delivery.
